In the Native American Algonquin, “The Rough-Face Girl” is mistreated by her sisters but is chosen as the Invisible Being’s bride due to her inner beauty. The Ancient Egypt’s “Rhodopis” is a Greek slave girl who receives a pair of golden slippers from the god Horus, and captures the attention of the pharaoh.
